Christmas Cookies Recipe

Red Velvet Snowflake Cookies with Cream Cheese Icing, perfect for adding a touch of holiday flair to your baking. 🎄


Ingredients:


For the Red Velvet Snowflake Cookies:


  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring (gel or liquid)


For the Cream Cheese Icing:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

For the Red Velvet Snowflake Cookies: 🍪


  • Preheat the Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients:
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • Cream Butter and Sugar:
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add Eggs and Vanilla:
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and then add the vanilla extract. Mix well.
  • Incorporate Red Food Coloring:
  • Add the red food coloring and mix until the color is evenly distributed.
  • Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Chill the Dough:
  • Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to firm it up.
  • Roll and Cut:
  • On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use snowflake-shaped cookie cutters to cut out your cookies.
  • Bake:
  • Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are set. Be cautious not to overbake.
  • Cool:
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.


For the Cream Cheese Icing:


  • Prepare Cream Cheese Icing:
  • In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  • Decorate:
  • Once the cookies are completely cooled, spread or pipe the cream cheese icing onto each cookie. You can also add additional festive sprinkles or decorations if desired.
  • Serve and Enjoy:
  • Allow the icing to set, and then serve these delightful Red Velvet Snowflake Cookies.
